The theater was built with a $75 million grant from Eastman Kodak, which also provided the naming rights. In 2012, Kodak declared bankruptcy and its title sponsorship was terminated. [3] On May 1, 2012, the theater's property rights agency, CIM Properties, announced that it had reached a 20-year naming contract with Dolby Laboratories Inc., and the theater was officially renamed the "Dolby Theatre".
