THE MONKEY CITY

Many people refer to Lopburi as the monkey city, and with good reason: there are a lot of cheeky monkeys in several parts of the ancient town, particularly around the Prang Sam Yod Temple. More than 1000 monkeys are estimated to live in the ancient town. These long-tailed macaques appear to be really cute at first glance. But be careful: these children are far from innocent. They cling to power lines, jump over automobiles, eat windshield wipers, and are always on the hunt for disaster. Just seeing the monkeys perform is a lot of fun and one of the nicest things to do in town!
