Review of a walk around Yongjeong City – It was a small but well-organized neighborhood

It was a quieter city with a nice atmosphere than I thought. Although it is small in size, the alleys are neatly organized, so there was no major inconvenience in walking, and the central business district was all gathered near the city hall, so the route was not complicated. If you take a taxi or Didi, it is about 20-30 minutes from Yanji, and there is a bus, but I don't recommend it. The first place I visited when I arrived was the downtown street, and I was a little surprised to see a lot of Korean signs. In fact, there were quite a few stores, pharmacies, and restaurants in Korean, and the locals seemed to understand Korean to some extent, so it was comfortable for me as a traveler. There were traditional markets, cafes, and household goods stores on the streets near the city hall, and there were also local teahouses and restaurants that were quietly operating in the back alleys, so it was okay to stop by for a short rest. Especially during lunch time, there are quite a few restaurants selling Korean food such as meat noodles, gamjatang, and tteokguk, and the prices are mostly around 20-30 yuan, so it was not a burden. When I wanted to have a quick cup of coffee, there were more local cafes than large chains, and although the design was simple, it was good for a quiet rest, so I was satisfied. Although the lighting was not flashy at night, the overall atmosphere was quiet and clean, so I could walk around without worrying about security, and most supermarkets and convenience stores were open until 10 p.m., so it was easy to do some simple shopping. It was a good neighborhood to stay for a short time and feel the local atmosphere rather than feeling like a tourist destination, and it was a comfortable course for beginners or those who are new to local culture, especially since Korean is spoken. You can also visit nearby folk villages and museums, so it is a place I recommend as a half-day to one-day course from Yanji.
