This isn't the Taj Mahal, it's our Dong village. Welcome to the Dong ethnic group!

1. Transportation Guide High-speed rail direct Congjiang Station is the nearest high-speed rail station (3 km from the village). After leaving the station, take the scenic spot minibus or a taxi directly to the village. The journey takes about 15 minutes and costs CNY 10. Recommended route: Guangzhou South/Guiyang North → Congjiang Station (4 hours), then transfer to a minibus. Self-driving Navigate to "Zhaoxing Dong Village Tourist Service Center". After getting off the highway, park in the parking lot (CNY 20/day) and take the scenic sightseeing bus into the village. Airplane Fly to Liping Airport or Guilin Liangjiang Airport, transfer to a bus to Liping Bus Station, and then transfer to a bus (about 1 hour). 2. Tickets and Opening Hours Tickets: CNY 80/person (valid for 3 days), free admission with Guangdong ID card (only CNY 5 insurance required). Sightseeing bus: CNY 20/person (round trip), but the main street in the village can be explored on foot. Opening hours: Open 24 hours, performances are concentrated during the day (10:00–17:00) and at night (after 20:00). 3. Must-see Attractions Drum Tower Complex and Wind and Rain Bridge Five drum towers (Ren, Yi, Li, Zhi, Xin): Wooden structure without nails or rivets. The reflection of the Li Group Drum Tower and the Ren Group Flower Bridge are popular photo spots. Wind and Rain Bridge: Zhi Group Flower Bridge, Ren Group Flower Bridge. You can take photos of the drum tower reflection on the bridge. Viewing platform Climb the hillside viewing platform to overlook the panoramic view of the Dong village. The drum towers, stilted buildings, and terraces form a landscape painting. The lights are particularly stunning at sunset. Tang'an Rice Terraces One of China's seven most beautiful hiking routes, 7 km from Zhaoxing. You can hike or take a bus (CNY 20 round trip). It is recommended to go in the early morning or evening to photograph the sea of clouds and the reflection of the terraces. Dong Ethnic Culture Exhibition Center Learn about the history, costumes, songs, and dances of the Dong ethnic group, and watch the free song and dance performance from 11:30–12:00. 4. Cultural Experience Dong folk song performance Every day at 10:00/16:00, there is a welcoming performance at the village gate, and at 20:00, there is a professional performance at the Dong folk song performance venue. You can participate for free or at your own expense. Intangible cultural heritage handcraft experience Tie-dye/batik: Jiajie Batik Workshop offers CNY 50–168 experience classes to make blue and white cloth art. Dong embroidery ring DIY: You can learn embroidery and pound glutinous rice cakes in Gaozeng Dong Village. Long Table Banquet and Bonfire Party Long table banquet (hundreds of families and thousands of people eat together), bonfire party (CNY 68/person) where you can dance with the villagers. 5. Food Recommendations Must-eat dishes Sour soup fish/beef hot pot: Recommended restaurants are Donglang Restaurant and Zui Di Yi Lou. The sour soup is fermented from wild tomatoes. Roasted pork/glutinous rice with roasted meat: Street stalls sell it for CNY 10/portion. The meat is fresh and tender. Beef offal hot pot (recommended for novelty): Herbal and beef stomach soup base, popular among locals. Snacks and drinks Crispy pork noodles: Liao Pangzi's house, sour soup with Houttuynia cordata dipping sauce. Dong oily tea: A must for breakfast, served with glutinous rice cakes. Wild bayberry juice: CNY 5/cup, sweet and sour to relieve the heat. 6. Accommodation Recommendations Recommended areas: Near the main street in the village (convenient for sightseeing) or high-rise homestays (good view from the viewing platform). Featured homestays: Guge Secret Realm: 270° viewing terrace, including pick-up and drop-off service, CNY 80–300 per person. Tianzhiyi Homestay: Infinity pool on the rice terraces, reservations required in advance. Yihe·Dongxiao: Backed by mountains and rivers, cost-effective, including pick-up, drop-off, and breakfast. 7. Itinerary Planning One-day tour: Drum tower complex → Viewing platform → Tang'an Rice Terraces sunset → Dong folk song performance. Two-day tour: Day 1: Main village tour + tie-dye experience + night market snacks. Day 2: Tang'an Rice Terraces hiking + Huanggang Dong Village (male voice chorus) + bonfire party. Three-day in-depth tour: Add Basha Miao Village (gun-toting tribe) or Jiabang Rice Terraces. 8. Precautions Respect customs: You need to obtain consent to photograph villagers, and avoid making noise when participating in activities. Mosquito and sun protection: There are many mosquitoes in the village, so prepare mosquito repellent; the ultraviolet rays are strong in summer. Cash payment: Some small shops do not support electronic payment. Travel during off-peak hours: There is a large flow of people during the May Day holiday, so it is recommended to go out early and return late, or choose the off-season (November–March). 9. Surrounding Linkage Basha Miao Village: 40-minute drive, experience the culture of the gun-toting tribe. Huanggang Dong Village: The birthplace of male voice chorus, you can participate in weaving experiences. Zhanli Dong Village: Adjacent to Miao Village, it has both Miao and Dong customs.
