Hangu Pass, China's earliest majestic fortress + Laozi's Taoist culture

❤️ The parking lot is right opposite the scenic area, with plenty of space and easy parking. The parking fee is 10 yuan. 🧡 We went at the end of May, the weather was not hot yet. After entering the scenic area, it takes about 15 minutes on foot from the entrance to the statue of Laozi, passing a water corridor in the middle, with nothing else much to see. You can also take a sightseeing car from the entrance, the route is different from walking, with two stops. If you are with elderly or children, or if you are in a hurry, you can consider taking the sightseeing car to save some time and energy. 👉🏻👉🏻👉🏻 The statue of Laozi is 28 meters high, holding a scroll. Below the statue, there is an unfolded scroll-shaped 'Tao Te Ching'. 👉🏻👉🏻👉🏻 Walking further from the giant statue of Laozi, you will reach the Hangu Pass Tower Square. There are large-scale horse battle performances at 11 am and 3 pm every day, featuring the Qin King appointing generals and the Chu-Han Contention. We arrived late that day and missed the performance, only seeing horses running in the field. If you want to watch the performance, be sure to plan your time well. 👉🏻👉🏻👉🏻 Next, we arrived at Taichu Palace. Here, a stele rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty records that Laozi wrote the 'Tao Te Ching' after entering Hangu Pass. 👉🏻👉🏻👉🏻 From the side of Ling Shi (a large stone visible from afar), you can reach Jiming Platform. It looks quite high with many steps, so we didn't go up. An aunt who came down from there said it takes about an hour to go up and down, for your reference. This is also the origin of the idiom 'Jiming Goudao' (Cockcrow and Dog Theft). 👉🏻👉🏻👉🏻 Below the pass tower, there are ruins of the city wall and arrow warehouse. The arrow warehouse is a well-style warehouse from the Warring States period, very distinctive, and you can clearly see the marks of ancient arrows in the soil. It's worth a detour to see. 👉🏻👉🏻👉🏻 Finally, I want to highlight my favorite, the pass tower. The view from the tower is very good, very open. Looking into the distance from the tower, you can feel the grandeur of the historical fortress. It's also great for taking photos. If you go to Hangu Pass, be sure to take photos on the pass tower. 💕💕💕 We encountered a glider competition that day and saw many gliders changing formations in the sky, adding a touch of freedom and ease to the grand and heroic Hangu Pass.
