I enjoyed strolling through the main square, sipping coffee in a courtyard café, and discovering handcraft shops filled with silverwork, leather goods, and Naxi textiles. What stood out most was the tranquil atmosphere. Musicians played traditional tunes under shaded arches, and small trails led out to nearby rice fields and mountain views — perfect for anyone seeking to slow down and breathe in Lijiang’s rural charm. Travel Tips: • Visit early in the day or just before sunset: For softer light and fewer tourists. • Great for photography: Look for reflections in canals, lanterns at dusk, and mountain views. • Explore the side alleys: More authentic and less commercial than the main streets. • Local food options: Try yak meat hotpot or handmade Naxi snacks in the side courtyards. • No entry fee: Free to explore and well-maintained. • Comfortable shoes recommended: Streets are cobbled and slightly uneven. • Less crowded than Dayan: Ideal for a peaceful stroll and relaxed shopping. • Bikes available: You can rent a bike to explore the village and nearby countryside paths. How to Get There: • By taxi or Didi from Lijiang Old Town: ~15–20 minutes. Just enter “束河古镇” in the app. • By bike: Easy and scenic route from Dayan or Baisha (great for a half-day trip). • By bus: Some local minibuses head to Shuhe from various spots in Lijiang. Ask at your hotel for the nearest stop. • By foot: If you’re staying nearby, walking in from surrounding guesthouses is very doable.
