Visit Lijiang Black Dragon Pool

Located at the foot of Xiangshan Mountain in the north of Lijiang, Black Dragon Pool is famous for its clear water and rich historical and cultural background. Black Dragon Pool was built in the second year of the Qianlong period (1737) and was originally called Yulong Dragon King Temple. The park has a pool of over 80,000 square meters, formed by dozens of springs. The water is as clear as jade, hence the name Yulong. It was renamed Black Dragon Pool after being granted the title of "Dragon God" by the emperors of the Jiaqing and Guangxu periods. Black Dragon Pool is the source of the water system of Lijiang Ancient City. The ancient buildings of Black Dragon Pool include the original Longshen Temple, Deyue Pavilion, ancient stage, and Suocui Bridge, as well as the later relocated Fuguo Temple Jietuolin Gate Tower, Wufeng Tower, Ming Dynasty Guangbi Tower of the original Tusi government office, and Qing Dynasty Wenyi Pavilion and Wenming Archway. It is known as the "Lijiang Ming and Qing Architecture Museum."
