New Year decorations everywhere

In Lijiang Ancient Town every house, every shop was dressed up for the celebration of the Chinese New Year. Door gods are painted or sticked to the gates, red lampions and red decorations everywhere. Strolling on the streets will make you feel pretty festive with all decorations in place. Compared to Dali Old Town, the streets here are much more narrower. And the water element seems to be very present. There are several bridges over the two streams flowing in the city. In Lijiang I did not see the pine branches next to the doors or the huge insence sticks in front of the door. #tigeryear2022 #familyholiday #yunnan #lijiang #yunnantravel #lijiangancientcity #urbanexplorer

If you happen to be in Yunnan Province for the Tomb Sweeping holiday, then Lijiang is a must visit for sure. Lijiang Ancient Town is a UNESCO world heritage site and has a history going back more than 1,000 years. This city is also home to the Naxi Chinese ethnic minority and you can try the local cuisine which is mouth watering 🤤 I recommend going to Baisha village which is just a short ride away via public bus to get more local foods as well as hand crafted items! Honestly stepping into Lijiang felt like something out of a storybook, everywhere was absolutely stunning and photos don’t do the city justice. #yunnantravel #yunnan #lijiang #scenicspotguide#urbanexplorer#qingmingtravel

Spring is the perfect time to visit Lijiang, Yunnan: the weather is ideal, the hordes of summer tourists haven't yet arrived, and the fruit trees are blossoming. We spent a very enjoyable couple of days wandering the streets of the old town, tasting local food and sipping coffee made from beans grown in Yunnan. Lijiang is undoubtedly a tourist destination, but it's one well worth visiting. The old town is small enough to be covered on foot (indeed, most of it is closed to vehicle traffic), so get a guesthouse in or near the old town (we stayed just outside the north gate, where a small hill gives a great view of the area) and leave the traffic jams of metropolitan China behind. #leaveyourmark #urbanexplorer #lightthecity #lijiang #yunnan #china #historicallandmarks #oldtown #coffee #mountains #tourism #springblossoms

Enchanting Yunnan: Lijiang, Dali & Shangri-La Highlights 🏔️⛩️🍃 Journey through Yunnan’s dreamscape with this three-city adventure—where ancient towns, alpine vistas, and Tibetan charm greet you at every turn! Start in Lijiang Old Town, wandering stone lanes and crossing charming bridges. Don’t miss the view from Lion Hill for a classic “rooftops and snow mountains” shot—morning light is unbeatable for photos! Sip Yunnan coffee in a courtyard café, and if time allows, stroll Black Dragon Pool Park for mountain reflections. Next, hop to Dali and cycle beside Erhai Lake (bike rental stands near the lake entrance). The Three Pagodas offer dramatic symmetry—try the reflection shot from the east side. Be sure to explore Dali Ancient Town’s lively music bars at sunset. Sample the local rushan cheese—it’s unique to Dali. Finish up in Shangri-La, with a sunrise visit to Songzanlin Monastery for surreal golden hues. Old Town makes for magical evening strolls (watch for lantern-lit alleys!). Head to Napa Lake if it’s migration season to spot wild birds. Dress warmly—Shangri-La’s altitude brings chilly evenings, even in summer! Tips: Start your days early to dodge crowds and catch golden morning light for photos. Altitude in Shangri-La can be tough—pace yourself and bring layers. For intercity travel, try booking advance tickets via trip.com for seamless bus/train rides. Don’t rush—each town deserves savoring. #Yunnan #Lijiang #Dali #ShangriLa #TravelChina
