Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Libo County

Libo County, under the jurisdiction of Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Guizhou Province, is located at the southernmost tip of Guizhou Province, in the transition zone from the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau to the Guangxi hills. It borders Huanjiang Maonan Autonomous County and Nandan County of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region to the southeast. As of December 2024, Libo County administers 1 subdistrict, 5 towns, and 2 townships. Libo was part of Wulian County in Xiang Commandery in 221 BC. From 629 to 744 AD, it underwent multiple administrative changes; in 970, the Jimi Libo Prefecture was established; in 1265, it was managed by three Tusi chieftains. Between 1368 and 1740, Libo experienced several changes in its administrative region and structure. In modern times, it belonged to various Guizhou administrative offices. After December 6, 1949, Libo County went through multiple changes, merged with Dushan from 1959 to 1961, and was restored as an independent county in June 1961, since when it has been under the jurisdiction of Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture. It has a subtropical humid monsoon climate, warm and rainy, with an average annual temperature of 18.5°C and a long frost-free period. Rivers in the area belong to the Pearl River basin, including the Dagou River, Sancha River, and Jialiao River systems, mostly flowing north to south, characteristic of mountainous terrain. Libo County is the hometown of martyr Deng Enming and boasts attractions such as the national 5A-level Zhangjiang Scenic Area, the national Maolan Nature Reserve, Shuichun River rafting, Huangjiang River National Wetland Park, and Yaoshan Ancient Village Scenic Area.
