The Famous Daihai Lake

The famous Daihai Lake, located in Liangcheng County, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, covers a total area of 260,000 mu, with over 25,000 mu of reeds outside the lake. Since the establishment of the Daihai Tourism Scenic Area by Inner Mongolia Daihai Protection Construction Development Co., Ltd., the company has invested nearly 400 million yuan to build several projects such as Daihai Hotel, Daihai Tourism Center, Daihai Bath City, Daihai Ski Resort, Daihai Cultural Park, and Daihai Tourism School. Around the 130 square kilometer Daihai Lake, a new Daihai scenic area suitable for leisure, vacation, conference, and tourism has been formed. Daihai is 10 km long from north to south and 35 km wide from east to west, with dozens of scenic spots. It is a forest park with unique landscapes such as Foye Cave, Jinshui Ridge, and Wannian Ice Cellar under the northern peaks, making it a great place for sightseeing. The Daihai Tourist Area has many famous scenic spots. Looking west from the ruins of Huixiang Temple, the Sleeping Buddha on Dongjin Mountain appears serene and lifelike. The Buddhist master Zhao Puchu called it a rare natural phenomenon. The tourist area also has early Longshan culture from the northern frontier of 5,000 years ago, the ruins of the Shicheng site on Laohushan, and the ruins of the Yuanzigou cave dwellings. There are also two hundred-kilometer-long Great Walls—the ancient Great Wall of the Qin and Han dynasties and the new Great Wall of the Ming and Qing dynasties. Daihai Hot Spring, also known as Mapaquan, is located in Zhongshuitang Village, Sansumu Township, near Daihai. It is named after the legend that Emperor Kangxi's horse dug the spring to quench its thirst during his border inspection. In the past, it was a place for lamas and nobles to bathe and recuperate. The daily water flow is 2,732 tons, with a water temperature of 38°C. The water contains various trace elements beneficial to the human body and has good effects on various skin diseases and rheumatic waist and leg pain. The Liangcheng Daihai Tourist Area has a water area of 60 square kilometers, a lakeside area of 10 square kilometers, and a flower sea of 1 square kilometer, forming a beautiful landscape of water and flowers. In midsummer, the slightly oval-shaped Daihai looks like a lotus leaf just emerging, with a charming green color.
