The museum has three floors, and exhibits focus on Mendelssohn and his sister Fanny, who was active as a composer and performer. Mendelssohn may seem a little low-key, hidden behind great composers such as Bach and Wagner, but at this museum you can learn about the history of the Mendelssohn family's musical education, the bond between siblings seen through their musical activities, and the human relationship with Fanny's husband, painter Hensel, which will make you even more interested in their work.
