Delicious Food, Chill Atmosphere by the Rice Fields.

For those who like restaurants with a beautiful rice field atmosphere and close to nature, "Krua Ban Suan" in Lampang province is one worth visiting. The entrance to the restaurant is on the east side of Phaholyothin Road, just a short turn in and you'll reach the restaurant that is an airy wooden house surrounded by rice fields and various trees. There is a bridge to walk and admire the fields (the time I went was after the harvest, so it was a bit dry and barren, but it would be even more beautiful when the rice ears fill the fields). There are swings to play and chill in the breeze, so we decided to stop by and have a big meal here. 🍲 Food 🍲 ➡️ Spicy Tilapia with Herbs This menu item is emphasized by the restaurant as a "special recipe of Krua Ban Suan." Seeing it, we had to order it without missing out. It was served as a big tilapia fish overflowing the plate, with beautifully presented flesh for easy eating. Lightly battered and fried to perfection, the skin was crispy and not oily. The fish was fresh without any fishy smell. The sauce was moderately spicy with a rich flavor, sour and sweet from tamarind, enhanced by the aroma of herbs like lemongrass and shallots. Truly outstanding and living up to the restaurant's reputation. ➡️ Chicken Wings with Northern Spices Northern spices have a slightly spicy taste, similar to black pepper. Roasted until fragrant and served with hot fried chicken wings, it's quite enjoyable to eat. ➡️ Spicy Wild Pork Stir-Fry The taste is spicy and hot, with a good sweat. The wild pork with skin is chewy and fun to eat. Served with hot steamed rice, it's very appetizing. This menu also offers frog meat as an option. ➡️ Tom Yum Chicken with Tamarind Shoots The taste of the tom yum is perfectly balanced, sour leading with a following spiciness, fragrant with dried chili and coriander, very easy to drink. ➡️ Stir-Fried Chiang Da Vegetables with Eggs When in the north, you must try Chiang Da vegetables. Fresh vegetables from the garden like this, just stir-fried with eggs, are delicious already. 🥤 Drinks 🥤 In addition to food, the restaurant also has a corner called "Café Ban Suan" that offers both coffee and hot and cold drinks. If you order hot coffee, the restaurant will serve hot Chinese tea and crispy bread as well. Enjoy sipping drinks while admiring the rice fields. Overall, the food here has a strong and bold taste, typical of the countryside style, but with good cooking skills. The flavors are well balanced in every dish. Many ingredients seem to come from the plants and vegetables grown at the restaurant, freshly picked from the plant, which gives a prominent and enhancing aroma to the food. After eating, the restaurant offered us sweet tamarind grown there to try, so we bought some to continue enjoying at home.
