A quiet homestay in Pangong Tso 🏡

Ralpa Ladakh eco homestay at the entrance of Merak village. At first, they asked for 800 rupees per person, but last year they said they stayed at 400, so we negotiated for 400 for just sleeping, excluding food. I didn't apply for dinner, so I paid 100 rupees for gas, steamed 1kg of potatoes I bought, and made Americano with my gas burner in the room to eat dinner. Since there was no hot water, I washed every nook and cranny with wet tissues. Time passed slowly for two days in Ladakh. My companions were writing their overdue diaries and photosynthesizing, and I spent my time lying down by the sunny window and playing the ukulele. Right in front of the accommodation was the Pangong grass reflecting the sunlight and shining. The blue water of the Pangong grass seeped through my feet and cooled my hot feet. There is a gompa behind Merak that you can see Merak and Pangong Tso at a glance if you do a semi-trek for about 30 minutes. Before the sun set, I collected cow dung and wood and arrived at the accommodation to light a fire. When the fire didn't burn well, the owner brought oil and helped me light the fire. The fire burned well, but the owner saw that it kept pouring water in the middle and going out once and then starting it again, so he told me to just use gas since he wouldn't charge me for the gas. I went in and put out 6 packs of ramen and got some rice. He was so considerate that I had a dance time with the grandmother to the Hindi song that was playing. ㅋㅋㅋ I ate the ramen with the sky filled with stars as a side dish. The grandmother who runs the place, Taesil Youngje, gave me a thick yak blanket because she thought it might be cold, as if her granddaughter was visiting, and she always smiled brightly when our eyes met while weaving cloth. Every morning, she showed me her sister, Julei, and smiled brightly, so it felt like I was visiting my maternal grandparents' house. Awesome scenery, simple Ladakhi life.. A homestay where you can get a glimpse of their life. It was a really good experience. 📍Ralpa ladakh eco homestay, Merak, Ladakh, India #India #Ladakh #Pangong Tso #Homestay #Unique accommodation
