📍 Location and Transportation Located in the central part of New Zealand’s South Island, accessible via Highway 8. The lakeside is right next to the town center, making it easy to explore on foot. 📝 Personal Impressions The first time I saw Lake Tekapo, the blue made me wonder if my camera filter was set too strong. The lake’s milky blue color comes from glacial rock flour, and it changes with the light—from gentle pale blue to deep azure. Standing by the lake, you see the vast water surface and distant snow-capped mountains, with air so fresh it makes you want to take a deep breath. Besides the famous Church of the Good Shepherd by the lake, there’s also a seasonal field of lupines. When the flowers bloom, their colors complement the lake, creating a scene as beautiful as an oil painting. At night, looking up reveals a sky full of stars. This is an international dark sky reserve, where the Milky Way is so clear it feels like you can reach out and touch it. Lake Tekapo is not just a photo spot; it’s a place that makes you want to sit down quietly and watch the water and sky converse. When I left, the blue reflections lingered in my mind and wouldn’t fade away.
