Nijo Castle, located in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto City, is a castle that Tokugawa Ieyasu began building.
It was built to protect the Kyoto Imperial Palace and as a place for the shogun to stay when he went to Kyoto.
It is a representative example of the samurai-style Shoin-zukuri architecture.
It is registered as a World Heritage Site as one of the "Cultural Assets of the Ancient Capital of Kyoto."

Nijo Castle has been the stage for various historical events.
It is also famous as the place where Tokugawa Ieyasu and Toyotomi Hideyori met, and where the restoration of power to the Emperor was announced, which led to the end of the Edo Shogunate.

During the Meiji period, it was used as the Imperial Family's villa, Nijo Imperial Villa, so its official name is "Former Imperial Villa Nijo Castle."

4月15日（土）まで開催している二条城桜のライトアップに行ってきました！

事前予約チケットだと入場が楽でした〜。

私は3月27日に行きましたが、
満開の桜を見ることが出来て、本当に素敵な思い出作りになりました✨

ライトアップされた桜は日中明るい時に見る桜とは
また雰囲気が違い、とても感動&癒されました。

バックのBGMもプロジェクションマッピングもとても幻想的でとても良かったです！　

内堀の「ダンデライオン プロジェクト」は肉眼で見るよりもスマホから撮影すると不思議にもとっても綺麗な写真が撮れます。

また、入場してからすぐにQRコードが貼ってあるボードがあり、そこから登録を進めると福寿園のドリップティーがいただけるチケットが無料でもらえました。

家族、カップル、お友達同士で行けば
盛り上がること間違いなしです〜

I went to see the illuminated cherry blossoms at Nijo Castle, which is being held until Saturday, April 15th!

Advance reservations made it easy to get in.

I went on March 27th, and was able to see the cherry blossoms in full bloom, which was a wonderful memory to create.✨

The illuminated cherry blossoms have a different atmosphere than the cherry blossoms you see during the day, and I was very moved and soothed.

The background music and projection mapping were both fantastic and wonderful! 　

The "Dandelion Project" in the inner moat can be taken in surprisingly beautiful photos with a smartphone rather than with the naked eye.

Also, as soon as you enter, there is a board with a QR code on it, and if you register from there, you can get a free ticket to enjoy Fukujuen drip tea.

If you go with your family, a couple, or friends, you're sure to have a great time.

Former Imperial Palace Nijo Castle

Nijo Castle, which became the base of Kyoto for the Tokugawa Shogunate, was built by Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1605 as a lodging house in Kyoto.

In addition to being the meeting place between Ieyasu and Toyotomi Hideyori, it is also famous for being the place where the 15th Shogun Yoshinobu returned power to the Emperor in 1867 at the end of the Edo period✨

The gorgeous Ninomaru Palace, designated as a national treasure, is worth seeing‼️
