Kyoto Arashiyama July Travel Route Sharing 【No Filter Direct Shot】 ◾️ Passing by 【Atago Nenbutsu-ji Temple】 🔹 Admission 500 yen, no handwritten goshuin, seems to have no restroom. It's not large, built into the mountainside with steps to climb. The small Buddha statues are adorable, but due to the recent lack of rain, it wasn't as lush green as in online photos—still worth a visit though. ▪️ Passing by 【Gio-ji Temple】 🔹 Admission 300 yen, no handwritten goshuin, no restroom. Though small in size, Gio-ji is a must-see moss temple! The vibrant green moss is stunning! Free fans are available at the ticket counter (please return them after use). ▪️ Passing by 【Nison-in Temple】 🔹 Admission 500 yen, handwritten goshuin 500 yen, restroom available. The master calligrapher here is excellent—besides standard goshuin, there's a two-sided version with transcribed poems (1,000 yen). The temple features a long approach path; autumn foliage here is said to be spectacular, and even the current green leaves hint at its breathtaking fall scenery! ▪️ Passing by 【Jojakko-ji Temple】 🔹 Admission 500 yen, no handwritten goshuin. A famous black cat naps at the ticket booth. This temple requires climbing many stairs. While renowned for autumn views, we opted to pass under the blazing sun amid lush greenery. ▪️ Passing by 【Mikami Shrine】 and 【Tenryu-ji North Gate】 🔹 【Mikami Shrine】 no handwritten goshuin. Tiny, with most amulets being small combs—pricier than regular ones. 【Tenryu-ji North Gate】 Just passed by; the temple is large but overcrowded recently. Their goshuin also appears machine-printed now, so we moved on. ▪️ Passing by 【Nonomiya Shrine】 🔹 Crowds surged from Jojakko-ji onward—we could barely move here! This small shrine mainly enshrines matchmaking and safe childbirth deities. ▪️ Final Destination 【Bamboo Forest Path】 🔹 The path actually starts near Jojakko-ji, with Nonomiya Shrine midway, followed by a final stretch. The densely planted tall bamboos create serene atmosphere, but overwhelming crowds dampen it. Some said visitor numbers recently multiplied here. 🔺 Personal Note: While Japan has no true off-season, timing visits right can help avoid crowds disrupting scenic enjoyment. Timing is key! Other nearby attractions are available for optional visits. These are my main observations—feel free to discuss and add more!
