Kyoto Highlights in One Day! Unforgettable Arashiyama & Gion Day Trip

Hello, fellow travelers! Today, I’m excited to share the magical moments I experienced during my one-day trip to Kyoto in June 2025. Though the time was short, I managed to explore the city’s charm to the fullest! 🚂 Immersing in the Serenity of Arashiyama The journey began in Arashiyama, a must-visit destination in Kyoto. Riding the romantic Torokko train, I soaked in the breathtaking views of rivers and forests, which felt incredibly rejuvenating. After disembarking, I strolled through the mystical Arashiyama Bamboo Grove (Chikurin). Walking among the towering bamboo trees and capturing photos was truly a special experience. I then visited Tenryu-ji, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where I enjoyed the serene temple atmosphere and its stunning garden. For lunch, I indulged in a delightful meal at Arashiyama Kijuro, savoring Kyoto’s signature refined cuisine made with fresh ingredients, which added to the joy of the trip. ⛩️ The Enchanting Red Waves of Fushimi Inari Leaving Arashiyama behind, I headed to Fushimi Inari Shrine, an iconic symbol of Kyoto. The endless rows of vibrant red torii gates were absolutely mesmerizing. Every spot was perfect for capturing stunning photos! After exploring the shrine, I took a break at Tsujiri to enjoy some matcha desserts. The rich and aromatic matcha ice cream was the perfect pick-me-up after all the walking. 🏯 Strolling Through Historic Streets and Kiyomizu-dera To wrap up the day, I visited places that truly embody Kyoto’s traditional charm. I wandered through Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka, two quaint streets lined with old-fashioned shops, browsing souvenirs and soaking in the nostalgic atmosphere. Time flew by as I explored the charming stores. The highlight of the trip was Kiyomizu-dera (Kiyomizu Temple). The majestic temple structure and the panoramic view of Kyoto city were absolutely breathtaking. I learned that the temple is even more stunning during autumn when the leaves change color, making me eager to return in the fall. On the way down, I stopped by Kabochanotane for a budget-friendly eel rice bowl, ending the day with a sweet and satisfying dinner.
