#summervacay Originally built in 1931, this beautifully preserved structure was once Meirin Elementary School, and is now recognized as an Important Tangible Cultural Property of Japan. Walking into the building feels like stepping back in time — the atmosphere is serene, nostalgic, and full of quiet charm. It features a steel-frame reinforced concrete structure, with one wing rising two stories and the other three, blending sturdiness with historic beauty. 🔍 The building itself is worth exploring: from the exposed wooden beams on the ceiling, to vintage signage along the corridors and classic windows, every corner whispers stories of the Showa era. 🌟 Now functioning as an active art center, it regularly hosts exhibitions, installations, and performances. The layout is open and visitor-friendly, with a bookstore and small gallery on the first floor, and additional exhibits and seating areas on the second and third floors.
