Kyoto’s Chill Hangout Spot

#springitinerary If you want a chill place in Kyoto away from the crowds, Umekoji Park is where it’s at. It’s just a short walk from Kyoto Station, so super easy to get to. The park’s pretty spacious with lots of open areas to relax, and it’s perfect for a laid-back afternoon. In spring, the cherry blossoms are gorgeous, and in autumn, the leaves turn all kinds of colors, such a vibe. There’s a cool Japanese garden to wander through, plus a little forest area if you’re in the mood for a peaceful stroll. The best part? It’s not as touristy as some of the other spots in Kyoto, so it’s really relaxing. If you’ve got kids, there’s a water play area in the summer, and an ice skating rink in the winter, which is fun for everyone. Oh, and if you're into trains, the Kyoto Railway Museum is right next door.
