A popular and photogenic temple: Yasaka Koshindo

Officially called Kongoji Temple, this photogenic temple is more commonly known as Yasaka Koshindo. Koshin (meaning "the monkey that is tied up") means that it is the birthplace of the Koshin faith and one of the three Koshin temples in Japan. The temple is famous for its cute and popular "tied monkeys" 🐒 The "tied monkeys" are talismans made to warn against selfishness by tying up the limbs of monkeys that act on their desires. It is said that if you restrain one of your desires and dedicate it to the principal image of Shomen Kongo, your wish will be granted ♪ The tied monkeys are 500 yen each 🐒 It is also famous for its benefits of good health, recovery from illness, and the fulfillment of wishes ♪ I visited the temple 8 years ago after hearing that it was popular...I was surprised to see so many "tied monkeys" dedicated at that time, but now it is not as popular! The voluminous and colorful scenery is sure to be a highlight😄☝️ The "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" three monkeys are also here and there♪ Facing Yasaka Tower, go up and look at the vermilion gate on the right in front is Yasaka Koshindo.
