Daisen-in Temple Garden

#FuriTabi Daisen-in is one of the subtemples of Daitoku-ji Temple, and the main temple of the Rinzai sect Daitoku-ji Northern School. The main hall dates back to the original construction, and is considered one of the oldest Zen sect abbot's quarters, along with Ryugen-in (a subtemple of Daitoku-ji Temple). It was founded in 1509 (Eisho 6) by Rokkaku Omi no Kami Masayori, whose son, Kogaku Soun, was the founder. The main hall is the original building. It is one of the oldest remaining Zen sect abbot's quarters, and is a national treasure. The Shoin is an important cultural property. The garden is said to be a rock garden representative of dry landscape gardens, with many huge rocks arranged in a small area to create mountains and streams that are easy for anyone to see, and is enjoyable because it beautifully explains the flow of life. It has been designated a historic site and a special place of scenic beauty. There is a fee to enter.
