Kyoto Station → Hankyu Arashiyama Station🚝 We stayed at a hotel near Kyoto Station the day before, and took the JR (and then transferred to Hankyu) to Hankyu Arashiyama Station the next morning. In addition to Hankyu, you can also choose to take JR to Saga Arashiyama JR Station or take a bus to Arashiyama, but the hotel we stayed in was near Hankyu Arashiyama Station, so we chose to get off at Hankyu Arashiyama Station 😚. 2. Hotel luggage storage → Togetsukyo Bridge → Arashiyama Street After storing our luggage at the hotel, we headed to Arashiyama Street across the Togetsukyo Bridge. Togetsukyo Bridge can be said to be the symbol of Arashiyama, spanning the Katsura River and offering spectacular views. There are many restaurants and shops on Arashiyama Street. You can choose a local restaurant to have lunch 🍽️ and taste special dishes such as tofu dishes, matcha desserts, etc. 🍵. 3. JR Saga Arashiyama Station → JR Umahori Station → Take the train to Kameoka Station and get off at Saga Station🚂 We had already booked the afternoon train (from Kameoka Station to Saga Station) online on the West Japan JR website, and had also successfully booked the fifth carriage of the train (Fuki). Ordinary trains are equipped with side windows, but the Fugui train does not have side windows or processed floors. Although the open carriages may be affected by the weather, they allow tourists to enjoy the scenery along the way without any obstruction📸. After considering the train route and the next attractions, we decided to take the JR to JR Umahori Station first, and then walk to the not-so-distant Kameoka Station and take the train to Saga Station. From what we saw on site, there were also tourists buying tickets on site, which was also available, but the most popular fifth carriage (Fugui) was already full ☺️. 4. Jioji Temple After taking the train to Saga Station, we went to Zhioji Temple to enjoy the beautiful summer-only moss forest, the quiet bamboo forest and the beautiful garden, which is very suitable for meditation and taking pictures. If you are worried that there will be too many people in Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, this is also a good check-in spot📸. 5. Tenryuji Temple From Jioji Temple, you can walk to Tenryuji Temple, one of the world cultural heritage sites.
