What is the origin of the name of this townhouse?

Yumiyacho is located in the Higashiyama district of Kyoto. Matsubara-dori runs through the center of the town, and old-fashioned shops line the streets. �Matsubara-dori is the equivalent of Gojo-dori in Heian-kyo, and has flourished since ancient times as an approach to Kiyomizu-dera and Rokuharamitsu-ji temples. During the Azuchi-Momoyama period, Toyotomi Hideyoshi moved Gojo Ohashi Bridge to its current location, and the street was renamed Matsubara-dori. It is said that the name Yumiyacho came from the fact that people who manufactured bows and arrows lived around the area. Historically, people from this town would lead the procession in armor during the Gion Festival float parade, and even today the custom of displaying armor within the town during the Gion Festival remains. �Meika, a rental house, stands in an alley just north of Matsubara-dori in Yumiyacho.
