The famous Senbon Torii gates in Kyoto are actually free of charge

This is the torii, an architectural element of Japanese Shinto shrines, used to separate the sacred from the profane, and also serves as the entrance to the realm of the gods. At the Fushimi Inari Taisha in Japan, the deity of agriculture and commerce is enshrined, and thus many businesses and worshippers donate orange torii gates to the shrine. This has resulted in nearly ten thousand torii gates, extending all the way to the summit of Mount Inari, forming the magnificent and famous site known as 'Senbon Torii'. Entering the Senbon Torii is like entering a tunnel of time.
