Kyoto temples with stunning picture-frame gardens

It depends on the departure point, but it is worth the 3-hour round trip, and it is often combined with the small town of Ohara, a shopping street (photos 12-13) and Sanzenin. The entrance fee includes matcha and mochi, and it is a good place to organize your thoughts or take pictures while looking at the quiet garden. (However, there are a lot of bugs, so be careful!) This town is at its peak of autumn foliage right now, so if you are traveling or planning to travel around that time, I recommend you stop by.
