🗺 Schedule: Three days is the ideal period to explore Kyoto thoroughly. Day 1⃣: Kimono experience (9:00) — Kiyomizu-dera — Ninenzaka/Sannenzaka — Gion — Hanamikoji — Return kimono at 17:30 — Yasaka Shrine at night (these places are close and can be adjusted according to personal preferences) Day 2⃣: Morning: Fushimi Inari Taisha (JR/Hankyu Line direct) Afternoon: Kinkakuji / Picnic at Kamogawa Evening: Wait for sunset at Kamogawa (the most beautiful Kamogawa goes towards Sanjo Station) Evening: Nishiki Market / Dinner near Kamogawa Day 3⃣: Option 1: Kifune Shrine — Tateiwa-ji — Sanzenin Option 2: Arashiyama (Both routes are quite far, so spend a whole day and choose one) 🚇 Transportation: From other cities to Kyoto: We recommend taking JR. It's faster and cheaper than the Shinkansen. Local transport in Kyoto: Two types of one-day passes are available (details on p15) We recommend buying a 700 yen bus one-day pass, especially for the routes on day 1. Use the 1100 yen subway + bus pass sparingly. It doesn't cover JR and Hankyu lines, and can't be used to get to Fushimi Inari Taisha! Use the red and green subway lines. 🏨 Accommodation: We recommend accommodation near Kyoto JR station, which is conveniently located. Once you arrive in Kyoto, you can walk to the hotel and avoid the hassle of dragging your luggage around.
