Kyoto cuisine 🍀200-year-old Kaiseki restaurant private room spring dinner

I'm so happy 🫶thankful that I still have 🐗 to celebrate my birthday this year. As the end of my day trip to Kyoto, 🐗 booked a 200-year-old kaiseki restaurant - "懐ishi Kinma". The entrance was received by a beauty in kimono, 🐗 booked a Japanese-style private room, spacious, outside the room has a small Japanese garden. The food design reflects Japanese aesthetic characteristics and is in season (spring) as the theme, reflected in the taste, aroma and appearance of the food. Hosted both of my local ladies who knew English and carefully explained each handmade dish. Starting from the first seasonal dish of salmon with summer orange sauce, to the clay pot cherry shrimp rice with grilled salmon, and finally ending with the water yam, each dish is excellent both in taste and preparation. The highlight of that has to be all the seasonal dishes, especially the steamed food - Spring Mountain Lily Root Bun. Although called a bun, the crust is actually like a dumpling, filled with minced pork, the texture, aroma (from spices and lily root), taste are very unique, full of exquisite Japanese aesthetics. Assorted tempura is another surprisingly delicious dish. The dough coating is thinner than paper. My personal favorite is the tempura shrimp, which remain prominently fresh and non-greasy even though they are deep-fried, making them one of the best tempura I’ve ever had It is perfect for special days to celebrate. The staff are not only friendly, but also elegant and attentive.
