Not in Jingdezhen, but checking in at the Zhudian Brick Kiln Culture Museum in Kunshan, Suzhou

At first glance, you might think it's Jingdezhen! But actually, it's not. This is the Zhudian Brick Kiln Culture Museum located about a hundred kilometers away from Shanghai in Kunshan, Suzhou, a small yet beautiful place that integrates brick kiln cultural preservation, display, experience, and leisure. The Zhudian brick kiln site was established during the Ming and Qing dynasties, and to this day, there are still 11 well-preserved ancient kilns. In 2015, Cui Kai, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a master architect, transformed the old brick and tile factory into the current Zhudian Brick Kiln Culture Museum, while preserving the original architectural style and structure of the brick factory. The museum opens at 9:30 in the morning, is open all year round, and offers free admission. The first floor of the museum mainly serves as a light dining area and houses the brick kiln culture museum, which displays the process of making 'jinzhuan' (gold bricks) at the brick factory and the bricks and tiles produced here from various periods, especially the famous gold bricks. Some of the brick-making kiln caves are also preserved for visitors to explore. The second floor is a brick culture exhibition area, with a space in the middle for student activities and some of the old factory buildings on both sides, allowing visitors to clearly understand the brick-making process. If you are visiting Kunshan, Suzhou, I suggest you take half a day to visit the Zhudian Brick Kiln Culture Museum. While learning about the ancient skills of making bricks and tiles, you can also experience the unique cultural environment and heritage of Kunshan!
