Yunnan Provincial Museum

Yunnan Provincial Museum is located at No. 6393 Guangfu Road, Kunming City, Yunnan Province. It is the largest comprehensive museum in Yunnan Province. Yunnan Provincial Museum has six basic exhibitions: "Ancient Yunnan - Prehistoric Yunnan", "Light of Civilization - Bronze Age Yunnan", "Nanzhong Hegemony - Yunnan from the Eastern Han Dynasty to the Wei and Jin Dynasties", "Land of Fragrant Buddhism - Yunnan in the Tang and Song Dynasties", "Frontier Defense - Yunnan in the Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties", and "Century of Change - Yunnan in Modern Times", which tell the long history of Yunnan from ancient times to the present. The museum's most prized treasure is the Warring States Period bronze ox and tiger table. It was unearthed from Tomb No. 24, the largest tomb pit with the most burial objects, in the Lijiashan Tombs in Jiangchuan. The main body of the artifact is a large ox in a standing position, with its horns flying up and its back naturally falling into a table. The tail is decorated with a scaled-down fierce tiger, which is in a climbing position and bites the ox's tail with its mouth open. The belly of the large ox is hollow, and a standing calf is horizontally attached to it. The large ox and the small tiger were cast in one piece, while the calf was cast separately and then welded to the belly of the large ox.
