It started from the tea house built by Hosokawa Tadatoshi in the early Edo period. After renovation, it has developed into the current strolling garden. The entire garden is designed based on the concept of "Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido", symbolizing the journey from Edo to Kyoto. There are small bridges, flowing water, rockery ponds, pavilions and teahouses in the garden, creating a picturesque scenery. The main landscapes in the garden include the green hills symbolizing Mount Fuji, the clear large pond, the floating island and the red bridge. The cherry blossoms bloom in spring and the maple leaves turn red in autumn. It is very suitable for strolling and enjoying the changes of the four seasons.
