Bako National Park, Sarawak

#tesaruonbudget Bako may be small, but it packs in an incredible range of landscapes—mangroves, cliffs, beaches, and jungle—all for a modest entrance fee. You reach it via a short boat ride, which is half the fun. I hiked to Telok Pandan Kecil beach, where a sea stack stands like nature’s sculpture against the waves. Along the way, I spotted proboscis monkeys and wild boar. Staying overnight in the park’s basic chalets is cheap and gives you a chance to enjoy the trails without day-trip crowds.
