Tha Pom Khlong Song Nam, Krabi

Tha Pom Khlong Song Nam is located in Khao Kham Subdistrict, Mueang District, under the care of Khao Kham Subdistrict Administrative Organization. It is an ecological study center to learn about the completeness of nature in terms of underground waterways and plants that can grow both in water and on land. Khlong Song Sai Nam has a special ecological characteristic that during the 12th waxing moon to the 5th waning moon when the sea level rises, which the locals call "Nam Yai", the sea level rises deep into Khlong Tha Pom to the swimming pavilion and mixes with fresh water in Khlong Tha Pom to become a brackish water canal with a rather cloudy blue color. However, after a short while, the sea level recedes and is replaced by crystal clear fresh water that looks green. The water in this canal is as clear as a mirror and looks emerald green because there is a lot of limestone or calcium carbonate solution and sulfur mixed in it. It is an area with high biodiversity, including freshwater peat swamp forest, wetland forest, tropical forest, and mangrove forest ecosystems. Therefore, it is home to both freshwater and brackish water fish.
