📍 Hidden Gem in Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Museum (Sabah Muzium)

#kotakinabalutrip Welcome to the first chapter of my Kota Kinabalu adventures! Let’s start with a spot that’s a bit under-the-radar for most international tourists — the Sabah Museum. If you're curious about Sabah’s rich cultural history, this is an absolute must-visit. Located in the heart of KK, the Sabah Museum is the state museum of Sabah, Malaysia. It’s home to a fascinating collection that dives deep into the region’s history, local crafts, tribal customs, natural life, and even animal specimens. After walking through its exhibits, you’ll come away with a solid understanding of what makes Sabah so unique. What stood out to me the most was the section on Sabah's many indigenous tribes. Each display covers their spiritual beliefs, traditional clothing, rituals, and everyday life — super intriguing and beautifully presented. Outside the main hall, you’ll find folk performers, relics from the colonial railway era, and displays of industrial equipment from the past. It’s an eclectic mix of old-world charm and local identity that’s worth spending at least half a day exploring. ✨ Bonus tip for photography lovers: Walk toward the back of the train exhibit — from there, you can catch a distant view of the dome and minarets of the Sabah State Mosque. If you’ve got a zoom lens, this spot is a hidden gem for shots! I didn’t have time to visit the nearby Sabah Art Gallery, but if you’re into history and culture, definitely add both to your itinerary. #travel
