Koh Samui is the second largest island in Thailand, located in the Gulf of Thailand off the eastern coast of the Kra Isthmus. Although it is an island in southern Thailand, it is a very popular beach resort, especially among Westerners. To get there from Bangkok, Thailand, you can fly from Bangkok to Samui Airport, or take a bus and ferry from Bangkok. The most lively area on Koh Samui is Chaweng Beach.
