Prasat Sdok Kok Thom 🏰

Today, I would like to introduce Prasat Sdok Kok Thom in Sa Kaeo Province. I would like to recommend this place, “Prasat Sdok Kok Thom”, which is considered the easternmost point of Thailand and is also close to Cambodia. How close? I would say that it is only 1 km from the Thai-Cambodian border. The advantage is that it is not far from Bangkok. Sounds interesting, right? The word “Sdok Kok Thom” is in Khmer. The word “Sdok” comes from the word “Sdok” which means dense, dense. The word “Kok” means reed. And the word “Thom” means large. “Sdok Kok Thom” therefore means overgrown with large reeds. #NatureAttractions #History #VisitHistoricalSites #SaKaeoProvince

The largest Khmer castle in the eastern region, over 1400 years old An ancient site in Thailand since the time of the Khmer Empire is Prasat Sdok Kok Thom Historical Park, Ta Phraya, Sa Kaeo Province, or Prasat Mueang Phrao. It is a stone castle located near the Thai-Cambodian border. Sdok Kok Thom in Khmer means a large and overgrown reed clump. It is assumed that in the past, it was deserted and surrounded by reeds. Prasat Sdok Kok Thom is considered the largest Khmer castle in the eastern region. It was built as a temple to worship Shiva or Lord Isuan according to the Hindu beliefs. Here, a stone inscription was discovered indicating that it was built in the 14th Buddhist century, which is very old, 200 years before Angkor Wat. According to religious beliefs, when a king ascends to the throne, he must build a castle to worship Shiva. If that king dies, the castle construction will stop immediately. This castle was built by King Udayadityavarman II, which is approximately 1,419 years old, which is a very long time. The castle is made of laterite and sandstone, whole pieces stacked together, then carved into patterns. Along the walkway, there are carved sandstone pillars called Nang Rae pillars. Anyone traveling to the province must not miss this. #VisitHistoricalSite #Mr.Tourism
