A Day of History at Penshurst Place and Chiddingstone Castle

#holidayitinerary Exploring Penshurst Place felt like stepping straight into medieval England. The 14th century Baronial Hall was absolutely stunning, with its high timber roof and grand atmosphere making it easy to imagine the banquets and gatherings that once filled the space. The surrounding gardens were peaceful and beautifully kept, offering colourful blooms and quiet corners to wander. After enjoying Penshurst, I headed to Chiddingstone Castle, which had its own unique charm. Inside, the collections were fascinating, ranging from ancient Egyptian artefacts to Japanese samurai armour, each room revealing something unexpected. The castle’s setting was equally lovely, with views over the lake and rolling countryside. Both places had a calm, welcoming feel, and I enjoyed taking my time to explore every detail. Visiting them in one day was the perfect mix of architecture, history, and scenic beauty, leaving me with a deeper appreciation for Kent’s rich heritage.
