How can a 24,000-step mountain hike be easier than a 22,000-step city walk? After visiting Shymbulak, I envy Almaty residents even more. They have a suburban snow mountain accessible by bus, which can be climbed in half a day. 🕑 Suggested schedule: Arrive around 2 PM, hike up and down the mountain, enjoy afternoon tea at the summit café, and leave the scenic area by 7 PM. Near the foot of the mountain, you can catch the 'pink mountain' sunset. ✨ 🚌 Take bus 12 to the last stop, with a ticket costing 200 tenge, approximately half a Euro. Look for the large ski resort billboard at the second-to-last stop, and make sure to ride to the end to start your climb. 🎫 The hiking trail is free, while a round-trip cable car ticket costs 5,000 tenge. We unanimously agreed that compared to the Kok Tobe cable car in the city, this is a much better deal and worth it! For those not keen on hiking, consider taking the cable car up and hiking down for a more relaxed experience with different views. Don't worry if you're not in great shape; taxis frequently pass by, and you can flag one down anytime.
