Kawasui Kawasaki Aquarium

#japantrip I was really impressed with the variety of fish - so many beautiful and interesting species I had never seen before! We ended up spending 3.5 hours here..! This aquarium is unique because they focus on freshwater fish, rather than ocean fish. They don't have any very large tanks, as apparently the building itself is old and can't support the weight, but that doesn't take away from the experience. Went on a Saturday and it was surprisingly empty, and we got to walk around leisurely and spend as much time as we want at each tank. Everything looks new and the media is well-done. They switch certain animals out at around 5pm to showcase nocturnal animals, so I definitely want to go back in the evening.
