The sheer scale of it is worth seeing. It takes quite a walk from the gate to where the Buddha is. There are exhibits and guides on both sides so you can walk while looking at them. There were some staff members who could speak a little Japanese here and there. The restaurant also serves Taiwanese vegetarian cuisine, so please try it if you have room in your stomach. Access → Leave Zuoying (the name of the station where the high-speed rail stops in Kaohsiung) and get off at the Buddha Memorial Hall, about 40 minutes from the bus stop at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi. You can get there by bus from Kaohsiung station, but there are not many buses so if you are short on time, we recommend taking a taxi.
