During those difficult years, the Japanese army forced Allied prisoners of war to build a railway connecting Thailand and Burma. This route was called the "Death Railway" because countless workers died during the construction process🛤️. Walking to the tracks on the Bridge on the River Kwai, I can feel the heavy history it carries. Standing on the bridge, overlooking the rushing river, I can't help but feel a lot of emotions in my heart🌊. I walked on the bridge and imagined the workers who struggled to survive. I was in awe of the sad stories they left on this land🙏. There are also some monuments and museums nearby, which introduce the history and construction process of the "Death Railway" in detail, which gave me a deeper understanding of this history📚. Shortly after crossing the bridge, I saw a sign in Chinese directing me to go downstairs to find the local vendors selling Burmese goods. The atmosphere here is different from what is described in the movie. There are many shops around and there are many floating restaurants on the river bank. The environment is elegant🍽️. Sitting in the floating restaurant, I tasted authentic Thai food, paired with slightly bitter Bangkok beer, which made me feel happy🍻.
