I went to the uninhabited island of Sarushima! It seems to be the oldest battery in Japan, built at the end of the Edo period. The remains of the battery are still clearly visible, and Sarushima, which functioned as a Tokyo Bay fortress for the army and navy after the Meiji period began, is now an island that has been returned to nature completely, reminiscent of Laputa, while still retaining its traces.
