This is the Greek Orthodox Cathedral, officially known as the Fira Ifapanti Orthodox Cathedral. First built in 1827, this cathedral is one of Santorini's most important religious symbols. Although severely damaged by the 1956 earthquake, it was later restored and regained its majestic appearance today. The arched outer nave, the central dome, and the shadows cast on the white walls resemble a work of art, harmonizing with the city's light. Inside the cathedral, the golden icons and elaborate murals, characteristic of Orthodox churches, evoke a quiet spiritual resonance. I paused in the cathedral, putting aside the hustle and bustle of my travels and praying quietly. In that moment, I felt a quiet connection between this city and myself.
