Japan's southernmost station

Since its opening in 1960, it has always been the southernmost station of Japan's JR railway and enjoys a great reputation. Since the monorail began running in Okinawa in 2003, it was officially renamed "JR Japan's Southernmost Station", and since then the station has lived up to its name.
