[Kagoshima City] Terukuni Shrine and Saigo

I visited Terukuni Shrine, which is about a 9-minute walk from the Tenmonkan-dori Station exit and enshrines Shimazu Nariakira, the 28th head of the Shimazu clan! First of all, you will be greeted by a magnificent torii gate. There are flowers at the chozuya, which is very relaxing! There seems to be a memorial hall with bronze statues of Nariakira and Hisamitsu in the precincts, but it closes at 16:00. I arrived at 16:30, so I couldn't enter... What a shame! As soon as you leave the torii gate, you will see an 8-meter bronze statue of Saigo right next to you. There is a photo spot across the road, so you can take some nice photos! There is also a prefectural museum where you can learn about Kagoshima for free. It is currently under construction, but it was interesting to learn about Sakurajima, the animals and plants that lived in Kagoshima, etc. #BreathtakingView
