The Aini people are a branch of the Hani people, with a population of about 190,000, all concentrated in Xishuangbanna. The Aini people in Xishuangbanna are actually self-proclaimed Hani people who have migrated here and can be considered a branch of the Hani people. The Aini people revere black, 'regard black as beauty', and avoid white and even numbers. Their clothing is also mostly black, decorated with a little lace, and women bind their legs with black cloth after reaching adulthood. After resting in the Aini village, we went to Jinhu Lake to watch the peacocks fly. There were so many people. It was good to have a view from the stands, but it was hot and sunny. It was better to stand outside the crowd, where it was cooler and not so hot. At Jinhu Lake, the touching love story of the Peacock Princess is performed every day.
