Jiaozuo｜Yuanrong Wuai Chan Temple

This trip took me to Yuanrong Wuai Chan Temple, which is worth a brief mention. The temple was founded by the monk Buddha-tu-cheng, a national preceptor of the Western Jin Dynasty. It is the second oldest temple in Henan Province, after Baima Temple. Unfortunately, it fell into disrepair during the Republic of China period. In 2002, it received funding for reconstruction, with a total investment of over 120 million yuan, resulting in its current scale. "Yuanrong" means "breaking through prejudice and achieving perfect harmony." "Wuai" means "no obstacles in the mind, no obstacles in the body." The temple is stunningly large. The main axis of the temple is a continuous uphill climb. The buildings in the temple are all new, and some of the Buddha statues and stone carvings are historical relics, including a 7-level white jade Buddha from the Tang Dynasty, a white jade seated Buddha from the Ming Dynasty, and a water-playing beast from the Qing Dynasty. The temple is free to visit. Buses stop at the entrance. The visit takes about 1-2 hours. You will need to climb stairs and return the same way.
