The Ancient Architecture of Jiaxian Shan-Shaanxi Guild Hall

The obscure ancient building in the wilderness, a witness to the glory of commerce and trade as a national cultural heritage site. Location: Jiaxian Shan-Shaanxi Guild Hall, located in the urban area of Jia County, Pingdingshan City, Henan Province, stands in a grassland... The Jiaxian Shan-Shaanxi Guild Hall was a post station and a business negotiation and wealth-invoking venue for Shanxi and Shaanxi merchants during the Qing Dynasty, and it is one of the well-preserved guild halls. The exquisite wood, stone, and brick carvings combine the ancient architectural styles of Shanxi, Shaanxi, and Henan. The architectural complex has distinct regional and era characteristics and was listed as a key national cultural heritage site in the seventh batch in 2013. Screen Wall: In the center of the shadowed wall, a round pool is built with brick carvings, and within the pool, a lively and vivid brick-carved dragon group is inlaid, which was called the 'River-Controlling General' by people of the time. Ancient Opera Stage: The ridge of the brick-carved stage features a brick-carved qilin carrying a treasure vase at the center. Bell Tower and Drum Tower: Around each, 12 round wooden columns support the cross-beamed roof, with double-layered flying eaves, dignified brackets, and a robust and simple design. Other Buildings: The central hall (Guan Gong Hall) is five bays wide, with a hall building still on the east side and a large hall (Spring and Autumn Building) on the north side, which is currently not open to the public.
