#Travel Course Hallasan's Magnificent Views Even Beginners Can Enjoy: Exploring the Yeongsil-Witsaeoreum Course For those who want to climb Hallasan but find the physical challenges challenging, the Yeongsil Course is the perfect choice. While it doesn't reach the summit of Baeknokdam, it's possible to reach the 1,700-meter-high Witsaeoreum, a 3.7-kilometer one-way hike that takes about 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours. This cost-effective course preserves Hallasan's magnificent scenery while allowing visitors to experience the charm of the alpine region in a short amount of time. I started my hike at the Yeongsil Trail entrance at a relatively leisurely 10:00 a.m. The steep stairs at the beginning (approximately 1 km) were a bit challenging, but once you overcome them, the gentle slopes and beautiful flatlands continue. The most impressive section was the Yeongsil Rocks and the Five Hundred Arhats Screen Rocks. The massive rocks, lined up as if in human form, evoke a sense of natural wonder. Afterwards, we entered the highland grasslands called Seonjakjiwat. The vast meadows, covered with azaleas (spring) and silver grass (autumn), evoked the illusion of walking somewhere in the Alps. Although it was a short hike, I was able to experience both Hallasan's dynamic volcanic landscape and peaceful alpine vegetation. At the Witseoreum shelter, I enjoyed the famous Cup Ramen with hot water. Ramen eaten on a cold mountain top was more delicious than any other feast. I returned to the Yeongsil Trail, where I was able to enjoy the stunning scenery from a different angle than on the way up. Yeongsil Trail is open to the public without a reservation and is highly recommended as a "mini Hallasan" trail that allows people of all ages to easily experience the essence of Hallasan. After the climb, it's a good idea to stop by the nearby 1100m Highland Wetland for a short rest.
