You Are the Mother of Gimnyeong

Gimnyeong Beach, one of the travel destinations on the eastern side of Jeju Island, features a 'Bulteok.' A Bulteok is a gathering place where Jeju haenyeo (female divers) would rest during their work of 'muljil'—diving into the sea to harvest sea cucumbers, sea squirts, seaweed, octopuses, and more. It was also a communal space where they shared parenting advice or took care of children together. Haenyeo's work represents one of the economic activities of mothers who supported their families and raised their children.
