Dalma Galbi

Dalma Galbi is located in the alley leading to Sanjicheon, in front of Mandeok Hotteok, within the Chilseong-ro shopping district in Ildo-dong, Jeju City. The restaurant operates from 4 PM to 9 PM every day except Thursdays, but it may close earlier if ingredients run out. On the day I visited Dalma Galbi, it was around 6 PM, and luckily, there were available tables, so I didn’t have to wait to enjoy dinner. I ordered two servings of Jeju fresh ribs (300g each) priced at 24,000 KRW, along with cold noodles. Additionally, seafood doenjang jjigae with crab was served without extra charge. The menu at this Jeju barbecue restaurant includes Spanish marinated pork ribs, Jeju fresh ribs, and cold noodles, and it is noted that they use domestic rice and kimchi. One of the standout side dishes is the marinated crab, which has a sweet and salty flavor that appeals to people of all ages. It’s not as spicy as one might expect, and due to the high turnover of customers, the crab remains fresh, just like the meat. When the fresh ribs are served, sprinkle the accompanying salt on the meat while grilling to enhance the savory and slightly salty flavor. Once the fresh ribs are somewhat cooked on both sides, cut them into bite-sized pieces with scissors and grill them further to ensure they are thoroughly cooked inside. The accompanying meljeot (fermented fish sauce) can also be placed on the grill. While Jeju Island has numerous fresh rib specialty restaurants, visiting Dalma Galbi will make you understand why people are willing to wait in line to dine here.
